Private Tour to Rethymno
George was our driver/guide on this private tour and it was a great day out. He is very knowledgeable on Cretan sites of interest and Cretan history and we had a very enjoyable time visiting Rethymno and around. Definitely recommended as a days sightseeing as it included visiting Arkadi Monastery, the pottery making village Margarites and the Apithano Honey Museum. George was on time in the morning and we had a comfortable van for the two of us. He even sent me a summary via WhatsApp of the day which is a very helpful reminder. Day trip to South Crete
Very good day out to southern Crete from Heraklion with George our driver and guide. We had plenty of time to see Gortyna and Phaistos. Also stopped at Matala to see the caves. This was a day full of interesting locations. Our host, George, shared a lot of information on the history of Crete and the greek language. He also knew the best place to have lunch with relaxing atmosphere and service where they greeted us like family. You won’t want to miss this!!!!
We had an absolutely wonderful day exploring Crete with George from SunSud Tours! From start to finish, he was an incredible guide and made our day feel so personal and special. He was extremely knowledgeable about Crete’s history, culture, and landmarks, but what really stood out was how genuinely friendly, thoughtful, and accommodating he was throughout the entire day. We loved getting to see Rethymno, the Holy Trinity Monastery, the Venizelos Graves, and Chania, and George brought every stop to life with fascinating stories and history. He also took us to some wonderful local spots that we never would have found on our own. One of our favorite things about the day was all of the thoughtful little surprises along the way. George surprised us with wine during the tour, and he even treated us to a delicious pastry in the morning. Those personal touches made the experience feel so much more than just a sightseeing tour. We truly felt like we were spending the day with someone who wanted us to have the best possible experience in Crete. By the end of the day, we felt like we had not only seen so much of the island, but had also gotten to know it through someone who clearly loves his home. If you’re visiting Crete and looking for a private tour, we cannot recommend George and SunSud Tours enough. Great tour with George
We had a wonderful private tour with George. He picked us up at our hotel, was punctual and very professional. He gave us lots of facts about Crete throughout the day. Greece Trip
Our family travelled to Crete in early August 2026. Given that we had never been to Crete before we decided to book a tour to help see the main sights and learn about the island. We are glad we did as George took us to all the main sights and was very knowledgeable about each one. What a magical day it was seeing the sights of Rethymno and Chania with our tour guide George! I would highly recommend booking tours with Sunsud Tours. George was so welcoming and full of knowledge about the history of the island and the sights he took us too. We started at a local olive mill for a tour of the mill and an olive oil tasting with a third generation owner. Next we visited a gorgeous monastery that had ancient artifacts, art, gardens, and olive oil and wine tasting. We finished the day in Chania Old Town where George continued to imbue us with the Greek culture and local history. It was so charming and we finished our tour in Chania at a local restaurant on the harbour! We loved George so much and can’t say enough good things about him. Our tour with George
Our day began at Lidl Atsipopoulo. From there, we set off across the Prefecture of Rethymno, enjoying the changing landscapes of western Crete while talking about the island’s history, traditions, and local way of life. During the drive, George shared the story of Crete and Greece, tracing their history from around 3500 BC to the present day and putting the places we visited into a wider historical context. Our first stop was Kallergis Bakery in the village of Armenoi, where we took a short comfort break before continuing towards southern Crete. We then reached the magnificent Kourtaliotiko Gorge, where you explored one of Crete’s most spectacular natural landscapes, surrounded by towering cliffs, crystal-clear springs, lush vegetation, and dramatic scenery. From there, we continued to the coastline of Kalypso. We had two hours to enjoy this unique fjord-like setting, with its crystal-clear waters, steep cliffs, hidden coves, and excotic surroundings. As midday approached, we made our way to the mountain village of Myrthios and arrived at Taverna Dionyssos. There, a distinctive “choose from the pot” dining experience introduced us to authentic Cretan home-style cuisine, accompanied by views over the Cretan and the Libyan Sea.
